Porcelain Doll

Anya at Ann Harvey’s exclusive Porcelain Doll collection has launched in-stores and online this month in a flurry of blues, lace overlays and romantic prints. To celebrate the launch, we have been given an exclusive preview into the inspiration behind the collection by Senior Buyer for Anya at Ann Harvey, Juliet Jones.

A Romantic Spring… As Juliette takes us through the collection she enthuses that Porcelain Doll is ultimately defined by feminine shapes and romantic fabrics, “this story is our first true spring story. Inspiration was taken from the soft shapes and delicate detailing first captured in the Spring/Summer 12 shows”.

Sports Luxe

With the summer Olympics in Britain this year, the fashion pages are taking influence from SS12’s biggest trend, Sports Luxe.

Lacoste’s Spring/Summer ’12 show premiered punchy brights, zips and stripes; Ann Harvey’s own take on the trend does not include cycling shorts (phew), but instead soft feminine silhouettes in draped jersey material and infusions of colour, a figure flattering look perfect for curves!

Our black maxi really is as comfy and stylish as it looks! To complete the look accessorise with our ombre scarf in the colour of the season, yellow!

Our stripes have also taken a shift from nautical to More >

Tribal

An abundance of textures prints and accessories will elevate your mood and wardrobe through the January blues; get ready for the tribal trend! Roberto Cavalli set the precedent for the trend which proved a big hit for numerous designer’s autumn/winter ‘11 shows, key looks included; enlarged animal prints, tribal motifs, embellishment, leather and jewels.

Aztec Treasure The tribal tend belongs on a curvy figure that can pull-off the chunky costume jewellery and bold prints. For big occasions Martine McCutcheon accessorises with chunky Aztec gold to achieve a high glamour look.

The Roaring 20’s

The 1920’s are infamous for prohibition, the economic boom and most importantly of course, fashion! The 20’s saw the biggest leap in women’s’ fashion yet, making room for movement, shorter hem lines and most drastic of all – trousers!

Pleats

Ann Harvey takes reference from the iconic 20’s pleat with their textured fit flare, moss crepe polka dot and moleskin pleat skirt.

Accessorise

A faux fur tippet and Cossack hat is a daring nod to the 20’s and will ensure you’re not only keeping warm but embracing the essence of 20’s style too.

Durness to Invergordon

urness is the most nothwesterly village in mainland Britian, accessed by a single track road, it sits within an area of most outstanding natural beauty.

Beautiful rolling hills that meet the vast unspoilt sandy beaches and a light that even on grey cloudy days, can’t be diminished. The sunsets are grand and in the summer, it never gets completely dark. Here, wild deer abound, seals and dolphins are commonplace.

Durness is the centre of the ancient Clan Mackay and it is here that you can enjoy a very warm welcome from Fiona and Robbie Mackay. They have a lovely small hotel More >

The Jacobite

Already July and the call of Scotland is so great! I do love Scotland and this year my husband and I booked ourselves on to the Jacobite railway from Fort William to Mallaig. It is said to be one of the most scenic routes in the world and I have to say that it is certainly up there with some of the best.

We travelled first class; there is only one first class carriage so you need to book it! The first class carriage – as with many of these fabulous historic railways – is super, each seat more like an More >

The Cannes Film Festival

When in Rome, do as the Romans do, or so it is said. I have to say that when one is Cannes for the impressive gathering of international stars, it is jolly hard not to get swept away by all the wealth and glamour. It is glitz with a capital G..L..I..T..Z!

The promenade in Cannes becomes the centre, the famous red carpet leads to the auditorium which all the famous, the not so famous but connected and the wannabe famous walk up to watch the premieres or to party. The streets are lined with one pretty girl after another, all hoping to More >
